Te Tūranga | About the role

We’re looking for a Digital Engineering Asset Specialist – Mechanical & Electrical to help keep our City Waters asset data accurate, complete and useful. You’ll capture and maintain data in our Asset Management system for newly created and replacement assets.

You’ll work across asset systems, technical documents, data standards and project information, helping teams understand what assets we have, where they are, how they perform and what’s needed to support planning, renewals, maintenance and delivery.

This role suits someone who enjoys both the detail and the bigger picture. One day you might be checking asset data from a project handover or reviewing as-built plans; another day you could be on site at a treatment plant or pump station, talking with engineers, operators or contractors about the information needed to keep assets well managed.

You’ll also help improve how asset information is captured and shared, turning technical detail into practical guidance that supports good decisions across our three waters network.

Some of the things you’ll get involved in include:

capturing and maintaining asset records in our Asset Management system for newly created and replacement assets
reviewing project handover information, as-built plans, P&IDs and technical documents
working with engineers, operators, project teams, consultants and contractors to confirm asset details
identifying data gaps, improving standards and supporting better data quality
providing reporting, analysis and practical advice to support maintenance, renewals, planning and project delivery
supporting digital engineering processes for three waters plant and equipment assets
visiting sites and plants to understand assets, how they operate and how information is used in real life

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

You’ll bring a practical mix of asset information experience, technical understanding and strong communication skills. Mechanical and electrical asset knowledge is important, along with the ability to work with people, ask good questions and turn information into something useful.

We’re keen to hear from you if you have:

experience working with asset management systems, databases or technical information
knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment, ideally in water, wastewater, treatment plant or pump station environments
confidence checking, managing and improving asset data, documentation and reporting
the ability to read and interpret technical information such as as-built plans and P&IDs
strong relationship-building skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly
a curious, practical approach to improving systems, processes and data quality
good organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

Experience with digital engineering, local government or three waters infrastructure would be useful, but it’s not essential. If you understand asset information, enjoy improving how things work and are keen to keep learning, we’d like to hear from you.
