Claims Manager

As a Claims Manager, you’ll play a meaningful role supporting members navigating life and disability claims. You’ll manage a varied caseload, assess information to determine entitlements, and partner with members, employers, and health professionals to support recovery and return-to-work outcomes.
 

You’ll be supported with comprehensive in-house training to build your claims management expertise, alongside the opportunity to develop innovative strategies that improve member outcomes and experience. This is a role where strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving come together to make a genuine difference.
 

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

• Manage a portfolio of life, disability and income protection claims with a proactive approach.
• Assess entitlement using contractual, medical, and occupational information.
• Conduct member interviews to understand injury, illness, and support needs.
• Develop tailored case management plans focused on return-to-work outcomes.
• Engage respectfully with members and stakeholders to provide updates and decisions.
• Collaborate with employers and health professionals to support recovery pathways.
• Prioritise tasks to meet service expectations and best practice standards.
• Prepare clear, empathetic written communications and claim decisions.
• Resolve claim-related issues fairly and provide easy to understand explanations.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all guidelines.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and a positive team environment.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

• You have experience in customer service roles managing client interactions.
• Your approach is member-centric with a strong focus on service delivery.
• You'll bring strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• You're confident communicating verbally and in writing with clarity.
• You demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail in documentation.
• You'll be able to interpret complex information and make sound decisions.
• You manage your time effectively across multiple priorities.
• Your emotional intelligence supports you to handle sensitive situations.
• You'll adapt to changing processes, policies, and environments.
• You're a collaborative team player who shares knowledge and ideas.
• You may hold a tertiary qualification in insurance, finance, or a related field.
• Your experience may include life or disability claims or related industries.
• You'll ideally understand rehabilitation, early intervention, or health services.
• You're familiar or comfortable learning medical terminology.
