Key Account Manager

Job Description

About the Role

The Key Account Manager develops business opportunities aligned with ideal customer characteristics and supports the client throughout their objectives.This will encompass commercial management, operational management, organic growth and strategic alignment. Focus on driving several major customer relationships within relevant accounts. Concentrate on increasing revenue and GP through organic growth manage stakeholder relationships. 

The role is weekly travel to remote sites. While operating on a Monday to Friday roster, flexibility is required to extend time onsite to meet operational and mobilisation requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Relationship & Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the senior point of contact for assigned clients
• Build trusted, long‑term relationships with site leaders, procurement, HSE, and stakeholders
• Lead regular governance forums including monthly reviews, quarterly business reviews, and strategic planning sessions
• Proactively manage client expectations, risks, escalations, and issue resolution

Contract & Commercial Management

• Own contract performance against KPIs, and commercial outcomes
• Manage change variations, scope amendments, pricing adjustments
• Ensure financial performance meets or exceeds budget through cost control, margin optimisation, and productivity initiatives
• Partner with finance teams on forecasting, reporting, and cost‑to‑serve analysis

Operational Alignment

• Work closely with Operations Managers, Site Managers, and Functional Leads to ensure service delivery aligns with contract obligations

• Drive consistency and standardisation across mine sites while respecting site‑specific requirements

• Conduct performance reviews for your direct reports

• Ensure services meet expectations across:

  • Village services
  • Catering & camp services
  • Integrated facilities management (soft & hard FM if applicable)
  • Asset management and maintenance coordination

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Champion Zero Harm culture aligned to Sodexo and client HSE frameworks
• Ensure full compliance with:
  • Mine site safety standards
  • Food safety & hygiene systems
  • WHS legislation and client-specific rules
• Actively participate in audits, risk assessments, incident reviews, and corrective action planning

Account Growth & Retention

• Identify cross‑sell and upsell opportunities within existing mining portfolios
• Support tenders, proposals, and re‑bids for existing contracts
• Contribute to long‑term strategic account plans
• Improve client satisfaction scores and retention outcomes

Key Performance Indicators

• Client satisfaction / NPS
• Contractual KPI and SLA compliance
• Commercial performance
• Safety and quality performance
• Contract retention and growth

Qualifications

To be successful, you’ll need a proven track record in leadership and operations, managing multi-disciplinary teams with a strong track record of managing operations and demonstrated ability to increase efficiency, improve service, and effectively manage resources across multiple sites in Energy and Resources industry segment.
