Coordination Officer

• Play a key role in helping North Coast communities recover from disaster and build resilience for the future.
• Temporary, full-time role up to December 2026 (with possibility of extension) with the Regional Coordination Northern Branch.
• Lismore based role with flexible work options and hybrid arrangements available.
• Clerk 7/8, salary relative to experience, and ranges from $116,981 - $129,492 + super. 

About the role

As a Coordination Officer, you will support the delivery of critical recovery, preparedness and resilience initiatives across the North Coast, working closely with councils, communities and partner organisations to ensure programs remain practical, responsive and aligned to local needs.

You will contribute to a diverse portfolio of recovery and preparedness programs, helping coordinate projects that make a real difference to communities before, during and after disasters.

• Support the development, coordination and delivery of projects, services and initiatives that strengthen community preparedness, response and recovery capability.
• Contribute to the implementation of regional recovery programs and disaster resilience initiatives, ensuring support reaches communities impacted by natural disasters.
• Assist in delivering key preparedness programs such as Get Ready NSW, Big Maps, Disaster Adaptation Plans and community resilience initiatives.
• Conduct research and analysis to identify trends, emerging issues and opportunities to improve programs, processes and outcomes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local councils, community groups, government agencies, industry and not-for-profit stakeholders.
• Coordinate working groups, consultations and stakeholder engagements to facilitate collaboration and information sharing.
• Monitor project plans, coordinate resources and track milestones to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
• Prepare reports, briefs, status updates, budgets and other project documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the delivery of projects using sound project management practices and continuous improvement approaches.

About You
You are a collaborative and organised professional who enjoys working with diverse stakeholders and is motivated by supporting communities to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience in disaster management and community engagement.
• Demonstrated understanding of emergency management arrangements within NSW.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Excellent project coordination and resource management skills.
• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with communities across regional and metropolitan areas for a positive outcome.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and briefs.
• Adaptability and a proactive approach to addressing community needs.
• Passion for making a tangible difference in NSW communities.
• Experience contributing to major programs, projects or government initiatives, particularly within a local or regional environment.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and contribute to practical solutions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders who may have competing priorities and perspectives.
• Understanding of disaster recovery and resilience frameworks.
• An ability and willingness to travel within NSW supporting operational roles following disasters.
• Current unrestricted NSW drivers’ licence.

Essential requirements:

• Tertiary qualification and/or relevant knowledge and experience.
