Senior Risk Specialist

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Senior Risk Specialist, Investment Risk, you’ll play a key role in strengthening how we manage and oversee investment risk across public and private markets.
Operating within our second line of defence, you’ll provide trusted advice, insights and challenge across investment activities. You’ll work closely with Investment, Investment Operations, Compliance and Group Risk teams to support effective decision-making, risk governance and continuous uplift of our frameworks.
This is a role where your expertise will be valued and your impact visible — from monitoring emerging risks through to shaping reporting for senior leaders and governance forums.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

• Provide specialist investment risk advice and insights across public and private markets.
• Partner with investment teams to support sound, risk-informed decision-making.
• Assess investment strategies, products and initiatives from a risk perspective.
• Monitor risk exposures and key risk indicators, escalating issues where needed.
• Support risk and control assessments, incident management and control uplift.
• Contribute to risk reporting for senior management and governance forums.
• Help maintain and enhance investment risk frameworks and practices.
• Support regulatory compliance, audits and assurance activities.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships and act as a trusted risk partner.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

• You bring experience in investment risk within a super fund, asset manager or similar.
• Your understanding of investment risks spans multiple asset classes.
• You'll have experience in risk analysis, reporting or governance activities.
• You're confident explaining complex risk concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• You can work autonomously and balance competing priorities effectively.
• Your experience collaborating with investment or portfolio management teams will be valued.
• You'll bring exposure to risk analytics, stress testing or scenario analysis.
• You're progressing towards or hold a CFA, FRM or similar qualification.
