Position Overview:
The Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Statewide 9-1-1 is seeking a detail‑oriented and service‑focused Telecommunicator Specialist to join our team. The Telecommunicator operates a multi‑channel trunked radio network to simultaneously receive, monitor, and transmit critical information for law enforcement and emergency operations. Working at a multi‑terminal console, the role uses multiple databases and messaging systems to relay police and emergency communications between mobile units and base stations. This position answers and responds to emergency, non‑emergency, and 9‑1‑1 calls from the public. It also monitors Doppler weather data via the National Weather System EmNet platform and gathers weather‑related information from local agencies for relay to the National Weather Service through the National Warning System (NAWAS). The Telecommunicator ensures timely, accurate information flow to support public safety and coordinated emergency response. ISP encourages all those who qualify to apply!
