Business Development Representative

The opportunity

Want an exclusive part-time job opportunity that is more than just a paycheck? As a Student Business Development Representative representing SpaceX on behalf of Mosaic, you will earn money, build real sales experience, strengthen your resume, and represent Starlink, one of the most recognized names in internet connectivity. Mosaic is hiring ambitious students to help bring Starlink internet to rural and underserved communities.

This is a hands-on field role where you will be out in the community, starting conversations, building awareness, and helping families explore reliable high-speed connectivity. You will own an assigned territory near campus and use door-to-door outreach as your main focus, with opportunities to build momentum through local events, community connections, and referrals. You will receive paid training from Mosaic and Starlink/SpaceX, ongoing coaching, and the chance to earn hourly pay plus commission for every qualified activation.

About the company you will represent: SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

Why this is a great student opportunity

• Get experience that stands out on your resume, including sales, business development, territory management, and customer engagement.

• Represent a high-growth technology brand while helping expand access to reliable connectivity in nearby communities.

• Be part of a program connected to SpaceX's broader mission of developing technologies that make a more connected, future-focused world possible.

• Earn hourly pay plus meaningful commission, with a part-time schedule designed to work around your classes.

• Build confidence talking with new people, handling objections, and learning how to turn conversations into results.

• Receive paid training, coaching, and support from Mosaic leaders who want to see you succeed.

Responsibilities

What you will do

• Own your territory. You will be assigned neighborhoods around campus and use broadband coverage maps and territory tools to find households that may be a great fit for Starlink. You will help plan your routes, track your outreach, and learn what works as you build momentum.

• Start real conversations. Introduce Starlink through door-to-door outreach, explain the current service and hardware offerings, answer questions, and help interested customers get started using your personal referral code. Customers complete their own order on their phone, so you never handle payment or personal information.

• Make an impact in the community. Look for opportunities beyond the front door, including farmers’ markets, community events, local business partnerships, and civic groups where residents gather. Strong performers may have the opportunity to support Starlink events and activations.

• Grow your network. Turn positive conversations and satisfied customers into introductions to neighbors, family, and friends who may be looking for a better internet option.

• Learn from your results. Log your activity, sales, hours, and mileage in Mosaic's field app at the end of each shift. You will also have regular check-ins with your Regional Sales Manager to review wins, talk through challenges, and sharpen your approach.

Qualifications

Who will thrive in this role?

• You are currently enrolled in school and can work 15 to 25 hours per week around your class schedule, including some evenings and weekends when residents are most likely to be home.

• You have a reliable personal vehicle, a valid driver's license, and a smartphone. Because territories are rural, reliable transportation is important.

• You do not need prior sales experience to be successful here. We are looking for students who are ambitious, coachable, comfortable meeting new people, and excited to learn. Experience in sales, fundraising, customer service, athletics, student organizations, or campus leadership is a plus.

• You are self-motivated and dependable. You will have a manager, training, territory guidance, and a clear plan, but your success will come from how you manage your time, follow through, and keep showing up with energy and curiosity.

What you will walk away with

• Paid training from Mosaic and Starlink/SpaceX so you feel prepared before you go into the field.

• Real experience in sales, lead generation, territory planning, community outreach, and customer engagement.

• Coaching and feedback from experienced field sales leaders who can help you build skills you will use beyond this role.

• Resume-building experience with a well-known technology brand and a role that shows initiative, communication, persistence, and ownership.

• Potential consideration for spring semester expansion opportunities or campus lead roles based on performance and program needs.

Pay, perks, and support

This role offers base pay of an hourly rate plus a $200 commission for each qualified activation, paid after the activation is qualified. Compensation is designed to reward both consistency and performance, making this a strong earning opportunity for students who are motivated to build their territory. You will also receive paid training, mileage reimbursement, a monthly cell phone stipend, Mosaic-provided Starlink apparel, territory guidance, and regular manager support. For example, a representative working 20 hours per week who reaches the program minimum target of 10 activations per month would earn a base pay plus $2,000 in commission for that month.

Program timeline and details

Paid training begins the week of October 5, 2026, with field selling from October 12 through the end of the year. Strong performers may be considered for spring semester expansion and campus lead opportunities. Representatives are W-2 employees of Mosaic, not of Starlink or SpaceX. Employment is contingent on a background check completed after offer. Some markets require a local solicitation permit, which Mosaic will help you obtain. Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States.
