Job Description
Basic Duties and Responsibilities:
The Regional Engineer is a highly experienced representative in the drinking water and wastewater industry, with extensive contacts and recognized expertise across the utility, construction, and engineering communities. This role contributes to securing a higher-than-average share of major projects within the assigned region.
Additional responsibilities would include enhancing the Company’s position through improved specifications and market perception creating the ability to secure smaller orders, greater customer loyalty and higher margins on these smaller orders. As the size and resources available to the Sales Operations Department will not allow them to be the only source for this work, the Regional Engineer will primarily call on the Top 50 utilities, municipalities with greater than 500,000 people and other similarly primary project users.
Territory includes Western Region: WA, OR, CA, NE, UT, CO, AZ, ID, MO, ND, SD, WY, NM, AK, and HI
Primary Duties Would Include:
- Call on city engineers and specifying officials within the region, both independently and in support of Division Sales Representatives, with emphasis on major national firms and identified projects of five hundred tons or more.
- Build professional relationships with engineers and officials through business lunches, dinners, and other appropriate activities.
- Maintain active involvement in regional AWWA chapters and other industry organizations through meetings, committees, volunteer service, and board participation, as appropriate.
- Attend relevant national, state, and local trade shows, meetings, and conferences.
- Serve as the regional authority and primary resource for McWane Ductile products, including design, installation, pipe, fittings, gaskets, restrained joints, and specialty products within the engineering and specifications community.
- Promote the use of Ductile iron (DI) over alternate materials and imported DI pipe.
- Develop and present programs for engineering and specifying groups, including regional lunch-and-learns with Sales Representatives and Days of Water training with other McWane divisions.
