Customer Relations Specialist

At DHL Global Forwarding in Hoofddorp, we make sure import shipments from all over the world enter the Netherlands smoothly and efficiently. As a Customer Relations Specialist, you are the primary point of contact for our customers and the essential link between every party involved in the import process.

From the moment a shipment is airborne to the moment it reaches the customer, you’re in control. You liaise with customers, carriers, airlines, customs, colleagues across the globe, and your own on-site team. You proactively track shipments, identify irregularities, and resolve issues the moment they arise.

Because import operations run 24/7, we’re looking for someone who’s flexible and willing to work in rotating shifts, including occasional weekend shifts.

Your Responsibilities

• Managing import shipments from A to Z: from arrival notification to final delivery
• Daily communication with customers, carriers, airlines, customs, and internal teams
• Proactively informing customers about shipment status, lead times, and special situations
• Administrative updates in our system (CW1) and ensuring accurate billing
• Processing rates, handling claims, and identifying improvement opportunities
• Maintaining strong customer relationships and spotting commercial potentials

Why You’ll Enjoy Working in Hoofddorp

• You’ll be close to Schiphol Airport—the beating heart of import logistics
• Dynamic shift work, including occasional weekends—no two days are the same
• A supportive, close knit, international team that grows together
• Plenty of learning and growth opportunities—airfreight experience is a plus, not a requirement
• Possibility to work hybrid in the long run
• Lots of freedom to take initiative and improve processes

You Bring

• Customer focus, eagerness to learn, and a drive to grow
• Flexibility to work in rotating shifts and occasionally in weekends
• The ability to multitask and set clear priorities
• Strong Dutch and English communication skills
• At least MBO-level work and thinking
• Preferably experience in logistics or airfreight—or strong motivation to learn
• (Please note that a valid Security Clearance (VGB) is required for this position.)

What We Offer

• Full-time position with rotating and occasional weekend shifts
• Salary according to CAO scale 7: €2,800–€3,600, depending on experience
• Travel allowance
• 25 vacation days (based on full-time employment)
• Personal choice budget via CAO à la Carte (extra leave, cash-out, or study budget)
• A workplace at the world’s No. 1 logistics service provider
• Active support for your professional development and growth
