Head of CO2 Sales

Remora is seeking a Head of CO2 Sales to lead commercial CO2 sales as we scale carbon capture deployments and build long-term relationships with major CO2 buyers. This is a foundational, revenue-driving role for a growing startup. You will own the sales function end-to-end, from prospecting and closing new customers to negotiating long-term supply agreements, while building the credibility and relationships needed to move Remora’s CO2 into the market nationwide.

We’re building modular carbon capture systems, turning exhaust into beverage-grade CO₂ sold to breweries and greenhouses. We deploy in regions facing severe CO₂ shortages, where prices are highest, allowing us to generate high margins without relying on tax credits or carbon credits.

We’ve raised over $115 million in funding from top investors including Lowercarbon Capital, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, and Valor Equity Partners.

Responsibilities:

• Own the CO₂ sales function and commercial strategy, including pipeline development, customer acquisition, pricing, contract negotiation, and closing.
• Develop and grow new business by identifying, prospecting, and engaging prospective CO₂ customers across target markets and end-use applications.
• Build and manage strategic customer relationships, serving as a trusted commercial partner from initial engagement through contract execution and ongoing account management.
• Develop and execute account strategies that maximize revenue, gross profit, and long-term customer value.
• Negotiate and close long-term, high-value CO₂ supply and agreements, with a strong understanding of market terms, pricing structures, and commercial considerations.
• Build Remora’s market presence and credibility within the CO₂ and industrial gas industry through customer relationships, industry engagement, commercial partnerships, and participation in key industry conferences and events.
• Develop and maintain market intelligence on CO₂ supply, demand, pricing, regional market dynamics, and competitive activity to inform commercial strategy and decision-making.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, engineering, finance, and leadership to align customer requirements, pricing, supply, contracting, and commercial commitments.
• Help inform the development of Remora’s future supply network, working with internal teams to evaluate potential deployment locations based on customer demand, CO₂ market dynamics, logistics, and commercial opportunity.
• Maintain accurate sales, pricing, pipeline, and account information to support forecasting, commercial planning, and executive decision-making.

 Requirements:

• Established network and credibility within the CO₂, industrial gas, energy, or related markets, with a strong understanding of buyers, suppliers, and market dynamics.
• Proven track record of developing new business, managing strategic accounts, and closing high-value, long-term agreements.
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of CO₂ markets, pricing, and customer needs, with the ability to translate market insights into sales strategy.
• Excellent relationship-building, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, operational, and executive teams.
• Comfortable operating in an early-stage, fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel periodically for customer meetings, conferences, and business needs.

Here’s what we value:

• Mission First: We are laser-focused on our mission. We have chosen to take on the defining challenge of our time, and we don’t shy away from the hard decisions required to put our mission first, no matter how tough. The world needs our technology and it won’t happen any time soon if we don’t make it happen. We are a low-ego team, and we prioritize the mission over our self-interest. We think strategically with an eye to the long term, and we clearly separate what must be done well now, and what can be improved later, despite ambiguity.
• Burning Urgency: Our hard-core intensity and work ethic match the crisis we’re in. We have a strong bias toward action, and we execute with focus and speed. In the absence of guidance, we take charge, lead our teammates, and accomplish our goals. We aren’t afraid to change course when something isn’t working, and we find solutions even when it seems like there are none. We are cool under pressure, and our quiet determination and drive are unwavering. We relentlessly push ourselves and each other to improve. We don’t accept adequate performance. Excellence is the expectation. Many would say our standards are unreasonably high, and many would say our goals are unreasonably bold, but we are hungry to be exceptional. We will never give up, no matter what. If we get knocked down, we get back up, every time. We will not fail.
• Uncompromising Honesty: We are always honest with ourselves, our teammates, our customers, our investors, our suppliers, our communities, and all of our partners, especially about what’s not going well and what we don’t know. When we see issues, risks, or challenges, we speak up, and when we make mistakes, we admit them proactively and take full accountability. We challenge others directly when we disagree, even when it’s uncomfortable, and we seek this uncompromising honesty from others.
• Treat People Exceptionally Well: We care intensely about everyone who is on this mission with us, and our standard is exceptional respect for our teammates, partners, and communities. Teammates who bring different perspectives and backgrounds are essential to our success, and we empower everyone to share their voice. We listen to truly understand. We constantly encourage and help our teammates, and inspire each other with our enthusiasm and optimism.
• Joyful Curiosity: We love to learn, and we learn quickly. We explore the unknown with wonder and excitement. We reason from first principles. We generate original ideas with an open mind and test them quickly in the real world. We take risks and adapt as we discover more. We explore many ideas in parallel, and we don’t count on a silver bullet solution. We share our ideas freely with our teammates. We are skeptical about conventional wisdom, and we question every assumption and requirement. We are always looking for ways to simplify. We are rigorous and attentive to detail. We are eager to understand all aspects of our business and technology, and we contribute effectively outside our individual specialties. We never stop learning.
