AI Software Developer

WorldQuant develops and deploys systematic financial strategies across a broad range of asset classes and global markets. We seek to produce high-quality predictive signals (alphas) through our proprietary research platform to employ financial strategies focused on market inefficiencies. Our teams work collaboratively to drive the production of alphas and financial strategies – the foundation of a balanced, global investment platform.

WorldQuant is built on a culture that pairs academic sensibility with accountability for results. Employees are encouraged to think openly about problems, balancing intellectualism and practicality. Excellent ideas come from anyone, anywhere. Employees are encouraged to challenge conventional thinking and possess an attitude of continuous improvement.

Our goal is to hire the best and the brightest. We value intellectual horsepower first and foremost, and people who demonstrate an outstanding talent. There is no roadmap to future success, so we need people who can help us build it.

Technologists at WorldQuant research, design, code, test and deploy firmwide platforms and tooling while working collaboratively with researchers and portfolio managers. Our environment is relaxed yet intellectually driven. We seek people who think in code and are motivated by being around like-minded people.

The Role: We are building AI-powered applications that help WorldQuant employees access information, synthesize knowledge, and support strategic decision-making. As an AI Software Developer, you will build and evolve these products end-to-end as part of a small team. Given a feature or problem area, you will help turn an initial need into a well-defined solution: clarify requirements, shape the user experience, design and implement the system, test and deploy it, and evaluate whether it is delivering value in practice.

 This is a hands-on engineering role with meaningful product ownership. You will work closely with internal users, incorporate feedback into the product, and contribute to feature prioritization and roadmap discussions. You will work on advanced AI capabilities, including agentic and deep-research workflows. You will help ensure these capabilities are useful, trustworthy, scalable, and practical for real-world use.

  What You’ll bring:

• Strong software engineering skills, preferably in Python, with an ability to build reliable, maintainable production systems.
• Experience taking features from an ambiguous request through technical design, delivery, rollout, and iteration.
• Product-minded approach: able to clarify user needs, make pragmatic scope and technical trade-offs, and focus on high-impact outcomes.
• Strong analytical skills and a passion for solving complex, real-world problems.
• Solid understanding of modern AI systems and practical experience with LLM-powered applications, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic workflows, document search, and evaluation.
• Familiarity with relevant data and platform technologies, such as vector search/vector databases, SQL, and messaging systems.
• Ability to define and use appropriate measures of feature quality, usefulness, reliability, and adoption.
• Strong communication skills in English, including the ability to work directly with and support internal users.
• Mature, thoughtful attitude; comfortable working independently in a small team and taking responsibility for outcomes.
• Strong delivery mindset and a drive to get things done.
• Experience in finance is not required.

What we offer:

• Dynamic work without routine in a leading international company;
• Competitive compensation package, which may include annual bonuses and salary increases;
• Healthy work-life balance support (flexible start time, parental leave, sabbatical after 5 years of service etc.);
• Possibility for business trips to the US and other countries;
• Regular team building, competitions and corporate events;
• Monthly team lunches;
• Medical insurance;
• Life insurance;
• Support program for employees and their relatives on psychological, legal, and financial issues;
