Gilmours is 100% New Zealand owned and operated, serving thousands of businesses and organisations across the North Island with the food and beverages they need to grow their businesses. From butchery, produce and chilled foods through to grocery, beverages, consumables and liquor, Gilmours is the one-stop shop for foodservice.
Te Tūranga – About the role
As our Range & Supply Manager for Gilmours South Island, you’ll lead the commercial alignment of the South Island product range with the wider Gilmours offer. This includes identifying common ranging and supplier opportunities across both islands and delivering source-of-supply changes that improve efficiency while protecting South Island profitability.
Working across procurement, national accounts, insights, operations, suppliers and AMD, you’ll use strong commercial judgement and influence to implement changes accurately, minimise disruption to trading and ensure the South Island range remains profitable throughout the transition.
What will you be doing?
- Lead the commercial alignment of the Gilmours range across both islands, while maintaining clear and commercially justified local exceptions.
- Identify opportunities to leverage common suppliers and improve cost, margin and customer outcomes.
- Plan and execute source-of-supply changes, moving products to direct supply where practical.
- Partner with operations to sequence changes, maintain business continuity and ensure teams are ready for implementation.
- Manage the commercial impact of range and supply decisions, including margin, stock, clearance, supplier terms and cost-to-serve.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to confirm supply arrangements, costs, timing, availability and implementation responsibilities.
- Execute approved range and supply changes in Foodstuffs Exchange and other relevant systems.
- Track delivery of the transition plan, resolve issues and escalate risks that may affect customers, trading or financial outcomes.
- Maintain clear records of decisions, owners, changes and outcomes, while operating in line with Foodies Values and the Grocery Supply Code.
He kōrero mōu – About you
You’ll bring experience in range management, procurement, supply chain or merchandising, ideally within foodservice, wholesale or FMCG. You’ll have a practical understanding of direct and distribution-centre supply, product ranging and product lifecycle changes, along with experience using Foodstuffs Exchange or similar product and supply systems.
Commercially savvy, you’ll have strong financial judgement and be comfortable assessing supplier terms, cost, margin, stock, clearance and cost-to-serve impacts. You’ll be an organised planner who can coordinate multiple product changes, maintain strong attention to detail and data accuracy, and keep delivery on track while maintaining business continuity.
Just as importantly, you’ll be a confident relationship builder and communicator, able to work effectively across operations, procurement, national accounts, insights, suppliers and systems teams. You’ll be comfortable influencing others, constructively challenging where needed, raising risks early and keeping stakeholders aligned to deliver great commercial outcomes.
