Responsibilities
What You'll Achieve
As a Hardware/Software Engineer Intern, you will work on real-world embedded systems projects, collaborating with experienced engineers to:
- Develop and test firmware for display control systems using C/C++ or Python
- Design and implement hardware-software interfaces using microcontrollers and embedded Linux
- Write and execute test plans to validate display functionality, performance, and compatibility
- Develop Linux-based diagnostic and control applications for display testing and validation
- Collaborate with hardware design teams to troubleshoot and resolve hardware-software integration issues
- Document technical specifications, test procedures, and engineering solutions
What You’ll Do
During your internship, you may contribute to projects including:
- Display Firmware Development – Work on embedded firmware for display microcontrollers, implementing communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART) and control logic for display parameters such as brightness, contrast, and color temperature
- Video Interface Implementation – Develop and test drivers or firmware for display interfaces including DisplayPort, HDMI, USB-C Alt Mode, and USB 3.0, with focus on signal integrity and protocol compliance
- Display Diagnostics Tool Development – Create Linux-based Python or C++ applications for automated display testing, including EDID parsing, resolution detection, color accuracy validation, and power consumption monitoring
- Hot-Plug Detection & Power Management – Implement firmware logic for detecting display connections/disconnections and managing power states, including sleep modes and wake-up sequences
- Display Performance Testing – Develop test scripts and automation using Python or C++ to measure response time, color accuracy, brightness uniformity, and compatibility across various graphics cards and operating systems
