The Opportunity
Build the future with us - WSP Canada has an immediate opportunity for a Junior GIS Analyst to join our GeoAnalytics & Mapping team on a full‑time basis. You will be part of one of Canada’s largest Geospatial and Digital Design groups, working alongside GIS technicians, GIS analysts, information managers, web developers, solution developers, designers, and BIM practitioners.
In this role, you’ll support multidisciplinary project teams across archaeology, geotechnical engineering, mining, and environmental sciences, delivering geospatial solutions that support WSP’s Earth & Environment projects locally and globally.
Your Impact
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers and consultants to interpret project requirements and translate them into geospatial solutions.
- Create GIS data from multiple digital and analog sources, including CAD, text, tabular and geospatial formats.
- Conduct data conversion between file types and maintain data integrity throughout project lifecycles.
- Produce high‑quality 2D maps, figures, charts and presentation materials to support proposals, reporting and field programs.
- Organize, integrate and publish data using web‑based platforms such as ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Apply rigorous QA/QC processes in line with WSP’s global standards, ensuring accuracy, consistency and repeatability.
- Support development and implementation of GIS workflows, geospatial analysis tools, mobile data‑capture solutions and automation initiatives (spatial ETL, Python, model building).
- Contribute to the creation and management of enterprise‑level geospatial databases.
- Participate in continuous knowledge sharing, mentorship and technical growth within the geospatial community at WSP.
The Skills That Set You Apart
- Degree or advanced diploma in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline — or equivalent demonstrated GIS experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with ESRI products, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop 10.x, ArcGIS Online/Portal/WebApps, and standard GIS/CAD formats.
